Do you know an outstanding citizen or youth living in Grand Falls-Windsor? Someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty to benefit their community, asking nothing in return? If the answer is yes, the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor would like you to consider nominating them for either the Youth of the Year or Citizen of the Year awards.
Each year, the Youth and Citizen of the Year awards seek to recognize those who make a difference in their community through outstanding volunteerism, achievement or dedication.
The successful nominee for the Citizen of the Year will be recognized at a formal dinner on Thursday, May 22, 7 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion.
The person selected as Grand Falls-Windsor’s Youth of the Year will receive a $500 scholarship from the town, and be formally recognized at a ceremony and dinner at McDonald’s on May 19 at 7 p.m.
Those interested in nominating an individual for Youth of the Year or Citizen of the Year can pick up a form at the Town Hall at 5 High Street in Grand Falls-Windsor.
For Youth of the Year, nominees must be between the ages of 13 and 18, and the deadline for nominations is Monday, May 12, at 4:30 p.m.
For citizen of the Year, nominees must be 16 years of age or older as of January 1, 2014, and nomination forms be received by the town by Thursday, May 15, at 4:30 p.m. All nominees must be residents of Grand Falls-Windsor, and self-nominations are not accepted.
Anyone who has questions or would like to request a nomination form can contact the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor at 489-0407 or 489-0412.
