The scenic and historic community of Brigus is serving as a backdrop for much of this week for the popular CBC television drama Republic of Doyle.

A drove of actors and crewmembers descended on the small Conception Bay North town today (Sept. 20) to film scenes from an upcoming episode called “In Brigus.

About a dozen local residents also took part as "background performers."

The episode will air in late February as part of the show’s Season 4 lineup.

Filming will continue on Sunday, and on Monday if necessary.

For a story and photos from the set, pick up a copy of the Sept. 25 print edition of The Compass.

Did the cast meet for a beer at the Local Legion. No Duke of Duckworth available?
