The sight of a rainbow is often regarded as a symbol of hope, and the citizens of Cupids - the site this week of the largest cultural celebration to take place in the province this summer - were likely hoping for clear skies and warm temperatures when this meteorological phenomenon appeared over the historic community recently. The annul Cupids Cove Soiree kicks off today (Aug. 17) with a VIP-loaded opening ceremonies and continues until Aug. 22. The festival is the centrepiece of Cupids 400 celebrations, which is being staged to mark the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the oldest English settlement in Canada.
