St. Peter’s Elementary in Upper Island Cove will soon have a new electrical heating system, following a recent $231,895 tender awarded to H.J. Bartlett Electric Inc. of Mount Pearl.
With this latest investment, nearly $1.2 million has been spent on new roofing, windows and other improvements at St. Peter’s Elementary in recent years,” said Education Minister Clyde Jackman.
Work to replace the heating system will take place over the summer months. It is one of more than 1,600 repairs and maintenance projects undertaken at schools in Newfoundland and Labrador since 2004.
“This is good news for our students and staff, knowing that their school is receiving more improvements,” said Glenn Littlejohn, MHA for Port de Grave. “Our government is clearly committed to providing a healthy and safe place for learning in Upper Island Cove, and in all of our communities.”
The school marked its 50th anniversary in 2011.
