Butlerville residents received quite a scare this past weekend when a 9-year-old girl was struck by a dump truck on the main road on June 22 while riding her bicycle.
The girl was not hurt in the accident.
The RCMP responded to reports of the incident just after 3 p.m.
The child, who was not identified, was riding her bike when she suddenly veered into oncoming traffic.
Seeing the child on her bike, the driver of the truck put on this brakes before knocking her off of her bike. She was not wearing a riding helmet.
After being struck, the youth was transported to Carbonear General Hospital for assessment.
The RCMP stressed the importance of wearing the proper equipment when riding bicycles, as well as to ride them in safe areas.
