A water ban in the Town of Bay Roberts, instituted on July 18, is causing problems for the Bay Arena.
The conservation measures are prohibiting arena staff from flooding the playing surface.
An article posted on the Bay Arena Minor Hockey Association's website indicates that the association anticipates at least a one-week delay in the opening of the arena due to the ban.
The association has hopes that its hockey school will start on Sept. 22, but it's dependent on the water ban being lifted in the Conception Bay North town.
The hockey school was slated to start on Sept. 17.
Officials with the Bay Arena and the town are meeting today (Sept. 13) to discuss the issue.
