Police say a single-vehicle accident that was likely triggered by alcohol consumption has left a man in serious condition.

The Trinity Conception District RCMP received a report of an accident on Crane's Road in Spaniard's Bay just after 3:30 a.m. this morning (Oct. 21).

A passerby discovered the scene, and found the driver "severely injured," say police.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Emergency responders, including ambulance and fire crews, removed the driver from the vehicle and transported him to Carbonear General Hospital.
