Pictured here are Jessica Strickland (left) and her brother Brady of Shearstown. They are among the many dozens of young children who have submitted letters to Santa to The Compass in recent days.
The window of opportunity for those wishing to have their letter to Santa published in The Compass is beginning to close.
The deadline for submission of letters and photos is Tuesday, Nov. 27.
Many dozens of letters have poured into The Compass office in recent days, and we're thrilled by the response to this time-honoured tradition. As usual, these letters are adorable, and some are downright hilarious. Others reflect a more serious tone, with some families having suffered some form of hardship or tragedy in recent months, or a difficult separation during the holiday season because a parent is working away.
The young faces in the photos are delightfully innocent and pleasant, and can serve as reminders to us adults that Christmas is a time for family, friends and good cheer.
During Christmas 2011, we published 350 letters and photos, and were proud to do so. Let's hope for a similar number this year.
So pick up those pencils or start tapping on those keyboards, kids, and get us your letters.
The cost is $6, and they can be forwarded to our own cheery elf, Shelleen, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or dropped off at our office at 176 Water Street in Carbonear.
Mail to the following: P.O. Box 760, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1C3.
