Communities throughout the Trinity-Conception region have been staging Christmas parades over the past two weekends.

Representatives of The Compass have been attempting to attend as many as possible in order to capture some of the festive images for our print editions.

Look for photo features in this week's edition (Dec. 11) of parades in Bay Roberts and Cavendish/Whiteway.

Our special Christmas edition (Dec. 18) will also feature photos from parades in Harbour Grace, Carbonear, Upper Island Cove, Victoria, Spaniard's Bay and Heart's Desire.

While it's impossible for us to attend every parade and other special events, we invite our readers to submit photos from holiday happenings in your community as well.

The accompanying photo shines a spotlight on George and Mary Power. They have been standing in for Santa and Mrs. Claus for many years at the annual Christmas parade in Carbonear.

Quipped Santa: "The parade is still going very strong, and so is Santa."

Meanwhile, pick up your print edition of The Compass this week for a variety of local news, features and sports coverage, along with dozens of letters to Santa.
