Over the holiday season, traffic checkpoints will be set up around the province by RCMP Traffic Services, RNC Traffic Services and Provincial Highway Enforcement.

Police see the same offences continuously, according to a news release from the RCMP, and often deal with the same drivers.

The checkpoints will focus on impaired driving, seatbelt use, distracted driving and proper documentation. They will be set up on the Avalon peninsula and in the Corner Brook, Deer Lake and Stephenville areas.

So the RCMP in central are too busy for traffic enforcement or what? How about the Chief communicate with the public and let us know what is taking place, why are the police not on the roads.

Don't tell me they are going to enlist the help of more citizens to do their jobs for them by being on the lookout for impaired drivers.

Set up a road block on Pearltown Road. It is a busy road in the wee hours of the morning.
