Rodney and Jennifer Mercer welcomed triplets into their lives on Nov. 1. They are, left to right, Rachel Joanna, Anderson Rodney and Lauren Faith.
The 2013 Chevy Camaro ZL1 is the kind of vehicle most car nuts dream about driving, and Upper Island Cove native Rodney Mercer was well on his way to having one of these limited edition muscle cars.
The deposit was paid, and he couldn't wait for delivery. His wife, Jennifer (McCann) Mercer of South River, was almost as excited, noting, "It was to be our one big purchase of the year."
But it was another type of delivery - some might say the ultimate Christmas gift - on Nov. 1 that put the brakes on that beefy V8. Now there's a new Dodge Grand Caravan R/T "mini-van" parked in the driveway at their home on Grenfell Heights in Grand Falls-Windsor, where they've been residing since August 2010.
Why? It's a little difficult to transport triplets — two girls and a boy — in the back seat of a sports car that some say is barely street legal.
Lauren, Anderson and Rachel were delivered prematurely nearly seven weeks ago, and life hasn't been the same since for Rodney and Jennifer. It's been incredibly busy, but lots of fun.
"We just don't stop looking at them. We are so happy that we have them," Jennifer stated during a telephone interview last week.
