Provincial cabinet shuffle announced

Topics :
Department of Natural Resources

Premier Kathy Dunderdale swapped two of her heavy hitters today, moving Tom Marshall to the Department of Natural Resources, and sending Jerome Kennedy to Finance.

The move comes just after the province sanctioned the Muskrat Falls mega project. Marshall will now be the man to manage the construction of the project.

Kennedy will now be the man to lead on public sector labour negations, taking on the province's unions.

"Ministers Kennedy and Marshall have made valuable contributions to the governance of our province in their roles as members of Cabinet,” said Premier Dunderdale. “I wish them well in the leadership of their new portfolios and look forward to working with them in their new capacities.”

The shuffle comes on the heels of a big one less than three months ago, when Dunderdale moved nine members of her 15-person cabinet.

The timing of the shuffle gives the ministers a few months to get up to speed on their portfolios before the House of Assembly starts its new session in March.

Jerome is the best man for negotations he will be fair and do whatever he can for the public service. The economy is in hard shape these days and the price of oil is far behind where we predicted it would be. Jerome will do whatever he can to be as fair as he can. I would reccomend a 1 or 2 year deal and see how the economy has bounced then. REMEMBERa good portion of the reason we are in this situation is because of the years of overspending and abuse the liberals did in the past. This is a responsible government who will do the best for the people in province. I feel safe with this government!!

Dunderdale must be the laughing stock of all the other premiers of Canada, with the old addage, Stupid Newfie. But most of the residents of NL are not laughing, but are fed up with her tactics.

If you bought these politicians for what they are worth and sold them for what they think they are worth, you would make a lot of money.

Kennedy, Premier Dundee, and Marshall. More aptly referred to as Curly, Larry and Moe. Dumb 3-stooges.

I had a real belly laugh when I read that Jerome Kennedy will now be the man to lead on public sector labour ' negations ', instead of ' negotiations '. Negation is the lack of something positive and, in this case, never has a typo been more appropriate. Kennedy likely considers the public sector unions to be comprised of a bunch of fools with grade six and they'll be treated accordingly.

Oh my heavens, what is this woman doing....again? She should put a bag over her head in shame and embarrassment when she's in public. And to think that WE, the taxpayers, are paying their big fat salaries, benefits, allowances, pensions, etc.

Kennedy will do what he has done before. Overplay his hand, cause hatred and consternation with public unions. Not listen to any input from non government entities and now we will definitely face strikes. This is all but assured now.

I guess Dunderdale wants her hardnosed little puppet in place when she starts negotiating with the public sector unions.

Excellent comment by Virginia Waters! Neither the Premier, Kennedy or Marshall could organize a "one man rush to an outhouse". And these are the people spending multi-Billions of our tax dollars. When is the next election?

Perfect! Accountants do not need personality... neither do Finance Ministers. So that job is a PERFECT fit for Jerome!!! Looking forward to retroactive pay when my union contract is renewed, Jerome! Sincerely, Empty Billfold

Now Mr. Kennedy can fix up our finances with the same expert knowledge he used to fix the prison system. I'm sure everyone remembers his first big job from Premier Williams. Great work on that one Jerome!!!

...so how much does that cost us? Too bad the Libs and NDP don't get the message and get "real" leaders - "ABC with D" would be a shoe in next election!

Reminds me of the movie Dwiddle Dumb and Dwiddle Dumber. It really doesn't matter which Minister of the Clown is in which capacity in the Blunderfest Administration; they're only puppets of Little Man Dan anyway.
