Snow-trapped suspects charged with cabin break-ins

Two men and a woman were arrested Tuesday night for break and enter when the RCMP found their vehicle stuck in snow in the Old Witless Bay Road cabin area.

The three — all from St. John’s — were held in custody overnight at a RCMP detachment.

The two men — both 21 years of age — were charged with two of counts each of break, enter and theft and a single count each of possession of property obtained by crime.

They were released on undertakings with a court date set for March 27.

The woman, 19, was released without being charged.

RCMP officers from the Holyrood and Ferryland detachments responded to an alarm at a cabin in the area and discovered the car stuck in the snow. Further investigation revealed a cabin and the out building of another cabin had been broken into. The three were subsequently arrested.

Police continue to remind cabin owners and residents of cabin areas to be vigilant and to call police if they observe suspicious behaviour. Anyone with information on this or any other crime can contact police at 1-800-709-RCMP (7267) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

      Oh, so sorry N. I made a mistake. A good thing you are here and setting me straight. Do you typically go around online posting corrections for grammar and spelling mistakes as well. Your a credit to your country. Basically you have nothing to offer to the conversation.

    I'm sorry? Why was the lady not charged? Was she not in the car in which the stolen property was found? Was she being held against her will? Doubtful. This smacks of a double standard by the RNC.
