RCMP

Shorly before 2 p.m., a beige Ford Ranger was traveling north on Highroad South, while a 46-year-old female was attempting to cross the street.

The accident occured at the newly installed pedestrian crosswalk near Carbonear General Hospital.

The woman was taken to hospital and is thought to have non-life threatening injuries.

The RCMP remind people that pedestrians should take extra time when attempting to cross a street, checking traffic both ways. It also important for drivers to watch for pedestrians.

Motorists are required to stop and remain stopped at a crosswalk until a walker has crossed completely.
