St. John's IceCaps all-star defenceman Zach Redmond skated with the team this morning at Mile One Centre, albeit in a red non-contact jersey, but he could be ready to play next week.

Redmond has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury (suspected to be leg) for the IceCaps' opening six games of the AHL season. He had been skating by himself, prior to the IceCaps' practices.
He won't play this weekend against Manchester (two games) and Providence, but could be ready next Wednesday for a date with the Portland Pirates.
The Michigan native missed most of last season when the femoral artery in his leg was severed during practice with the Winnipeg Jets in February.
Only for the quick work of the Jets' training staff and Winnipeg forward Anthony Peluso, Redmond could have bled to death on the ice.
Another IceCaps defenceman, newcomer Kris Fredheim, will definitely play in St. John's upcoming six-game road trip. Fredheim has yet to appear in a game for St. John's this season.
