Man charged in Hopedale with possession of marijuana for purpose of trafficking

A 43-year-old Happy Valley/Goose Bay man who had just arrived in Hopedale on the Northern Ranger vessel was charged Tuesday after the RCMP seized a quantity of marijuana.


About 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the accused had exited the Northern Ranger in Hopedale and got into a vehicle. He was then searched by RCMP officers and the marijuana seized.

The accused is charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. He will be appearing in provincial court in Hopedale Feb. 5.

The RCMP says the seizure represents the removal of approximately 700 marijuana cigarettes from the streets of Hopedale.
