A pack of dogs caught a trapped seal this morning on the ice surface of Northwest River.

A defenseless seal got trapped on the ice earlier this morning on Northwest River. A pack of dogs strolled onto the ice and began dragging around the seal on the Ice surface.

Some residents in Northwest River looked on with concern and dismay at the sight. The Labradorian has not been able to confirm if anything has been done to try and save the seal from further harm, or if it managed to survive the attack.

These dogs just did a service. Toss them a treat.

Isn't this just nature? What's next, people demanding the dogs be killed? Once again, where an animal lies on the "cuteness" scale is directly proportional to how much people actually care about them.

So the ongoing problem of roaming homeless dogs continue, they pack together and hunt on anything smaller and helpless. This wouldn't happen if there was a dog catcher, why don't the two communities of NWR & SSS combine efforts to tackle this problem? When an attack on a child happens, there will be no one else to blame but yourselves for not doing something about it. I hope someone stepped up and did something to help this seal, where there's a will there's a way!
