A small car went off the road on Prince Philip Drive in St. John’s across from the College of the North Atlantic just before noon and is currently lying on its roof at the edge of Kent’s Pond.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says one female occupant has been taken to hospital for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

RNC officers are on the scene and traffic is reduced to one lane right now.

The roads are wet, but driving conditions are good under a sunny sky.

It appears the car was heading east but it is on the other side of the road. Would love to hear he explanation. If it was texting, this would be good advertising to explain what happens when you text.

the media should publish the names of these drivers who at perfect road conditions (screwing up traffic )are able to do the likes of this is beyond me .they must be some stund to think they can drive without looking at the road .I see people with children on board texting they must think a whole lot about them. This is a suggestion if you know someone (your friends or family)is driving do not contact them because i would not like to be on the OTHER END of the conversation when someone is killed there is alot of lives ruined for LACK OF COMMON sense.i would sooner meet a driver with a few beers in at least there looking at the road.merry christmas and please drive SAFELY

I hope the cops checked her cellphone (if she had one) to see if she was texting or talking on the phone before the accident.
