Supporters of the Change Island Pony Sanctuary sat nervously Tuesday morning awaiting the results of the Aviva Community Fund.
The Sanctuary secured a place in the finals along with ideas from all over Canada of worthwhile causes that could make a difference in their community with prize money awarded by Aviva.
Change Islands has around 200 residents, but saw nearly 9,000 supporters promote and vote for the Change Islands Pony Sanctuary. The Newfoundland ponies at the Sanctuary are cared for by Netta LeDrew of Change Islands and were in desperate need of a new barn. Thanks to the $90,000 won today (Jan. 28) a dream will become a reality and the ponies will have a new home.
