A woman facing a number if assault charges — including one against a sheriiff’s officer — will stay at the Waterford Hospital for another week.

Alexandria Harnum (left) is pictured being escorted into court by sheriffs's officers in this Telegram photo from Wednesday.

Alexandria Harnum, 22, was supposed to have been in provincial court in St. John’s this morning on two separate cases.

First, she was scheduled to be sentenced on charges stemming from an incident at the Waterford Hospital, where she was said to have attacked a male nurse in May.

Then, she was to return to another courtroom to answer to charges relating to an incident that happened in court Tuesday, when she yanked a hunk of hair from a female sheriff officer’s head, leaving a large bald patch.

Harnum is also charged with assaulting a woman at Lottie’s bar on George Street last weekend. She faces a slew of charges of breaching court orders, as well.

Her lawyer, Derek Hogan, told the court Harnum is undergoing a further week-long psychiatric assessment.

She’s expected back in court next week.
