The RCMP is warning the general public to be aware of a telemarketing scam happening throughout the province.

The RCMP indicated several calls in recent days from various people reported receiving a phone call from a male who claimed to be a Constable with the RCMP.

The caller tells the complainants he is soliciting money to fund an anti-bullying book t the RCMP is making. The subject is requesting donations of $100-$300.

When the complainants tell him they will not provide credit card information or request the information package be sent through the mail, the subject will say he is transferring the complainant to another agent and the line is disconnected.

The RCMP advise they never take part in any type of phone solicitation for funds. If you receive a call like this hang up.

If you are a victim of fraud, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501, on line: ‘http://www.antifraudcentre.ca’ or the local RCMP detachment.
