Newfoundland Power employees join Eastern Health staff at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville earlier today to announce the donation of an automatic blood pressure monitor to the chemotherapy room.
The employees of Newfoundland Power in the Clarenville area have donated an automatic blood pressure monitor to the Chemotherapy Room at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on behalf of The Power of Life Project. This investment of over $4,000 was made possible by the fundraising efforts of Newfoundland Power’s employee driven Hard Hat Drive last year.
The much needed cancer treatment equipment will contribute to the comfort of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and provide additional support to cancer care nursing staff.
Jocelyn Perry, Champion for The Power of Life Project, presented the gift to Eastern Health Manager Michelle Cantu. “Enhancing cancer care for the people of our province is an ongoing goal forThe Power of Life Project and we’re delighted to be able to make this contribution on behalf of our employees, retirees and customers,” said Perry. “The tremendous support for our Provincial Hard Hat Drive fundraiser in 2013 helped make this equipment donation possible and we look forward to an even better response in 2014.”
Lynette Hillier, executive director of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, said, “We are proud to join with Newfoundland Power, their employees, retirees and customers in presenting this equipment to the Chemotherapy Room here in Clarenville. As a Foundation we have been overwhelmed by Newfoundland Power’s support and continued commitment to enhancing the lives of those living with cancer in our province. It’s partnerships like The Power of Life Projectthat truly embrace the spirit of charitable giving and make a real difference to those who need it most.”
The Power of Life Project raises funds for cancer treatment equipment, support programs and promotes early detection and cancer screening through education and awareness programs.
