Bay Roberts man's body found in harbour today

The search for a missing Bay Roberts man ended early Friday (Feb. 21) afternoon, and the outcome was a sad one.

Bay Roberts resident Andrew Lush, 37, has been missing since early Saturday (Feb. 15) morning. Any person with information are asked to call the Trinity Conception RCMP at 596-5014.

Sgt. Greg Hicks of the Trinity Conception RCMP confirmed that at 12:30 p.m., members of the Avalon North Wolverines search and rescue located the body of 37-year-old Andrew Lush

The Wolverines, using a Zodiac fast-rescue craft, located Lush in a stretch of water behind the Mariner on Water Street in Bay Roberts.

The recovery, which took a couple of hours with the depth of the water in the area, ends a search that would have been a week old this evening.

Lush had been missing since the early morning hours of Feb. 15 when he was last seen at local bar, Kelly's Landing.

His disappearance set off a herculean effort by volutneers, police and family members to find Lush.

His body was found in an area of water that was not available to searchers during the initial search due to ice buildup.

However, a change in weather patterns cleared the ice from the area in recent days.

Although Lush has been found, the RCMP investigation is not finished.

"There is an autopsy being done to determine cause of death," said Hicks.

If his death is from natural causes the bar STILL should be held liable. He was intoxicated and they escorted him out into the cold. In the middle of winter at 1am it had to be minus degress. If we found an old dog on the streets we would take him in until we found the owner wouldn't we.?? Or at least call SPCA or some kind of animal control.
