Police say alcohol, speed were factors in Red Brook accident

Members of the Bay St George RCMP are investigating an incident that resulted in a Marches Point man being airlifted to St. John's to treat serious injuries.

Police say the 38-year-old man was operating a snowmobile around 9 p.m. Saturday night when he crashed into a parked car on the shoulder of the road on Route 460 in the community of Red Brook.

The man was initially transported to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville and later airlifted to the Health Science Centre in St. John's to treat his injuries.

The investigation is continuing, but police say they have determined alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the incident.
