The event was put off by the Forteau Volunteer Fire Department on Forteau Bay. Each speed was measured by radar gun. Coordinator Rodney Hancock says it was a real success, adding “it was the most people we’ve had to it in a number of years” with about 200 people participating. The race has taken place within the community for over 20 years and this was the first time they’ve had the event on Forteau Bay in at least five years. Winners were awarded half of the overall admission take for their running class. The winners in each class, with speeds, were: 1000 class – Junior Buckle (149 km/h); 800 class – Nathan Buckle (150 km/h); 700 class – Aaron Hancock (146 km/h); 600 class – Adam Flynn (144 km/h); 600 Wide-track class – Dan Taylor (119 km/h); 500 class – Scott Flynn (107 km/h)
