A Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer was taken to hospital after their police car was struck by a vehicle running a red light at a St. John’s intersection.
The accident happened Sunday morning at the intersection of Pennywell Road and Cashin Avenue. According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, an officer was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was issued a summary offence ticket for driving through a red light.
According to a witness who came across the scene of the accident, the police car sustained extensive damage to its front end. The other vehicle ended up on a residential lawn.
