The following matters were heard at Port aux Basques provincial court by Judge Catherine Allen-Westby:

Law Court

A 38-year old Isle aux Morts man charged with criminal harassment, three counts of assault, assault with a weapon or imitation, three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, two counts of mischief relating to property of less than $5,000 and breaking and entering and committing an offense had the matter set over to April 10 at 1:30 p.m. for election and plea.

A Codroy man, 50, charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm had the matter set over to April 9 at 10 a.m. to allow time to review disclosure.

A 43-year-old Margaree woman charged with assault is away working and had the matter set over to May 7 at 10 a.m.

A 39-year-old Burnt Islands man charged with operating a vehicle with impaired and operation of a vehicle while impaired by exceeding 80 mg had the matter set over to May 7 at 10 a.m.

A Port aux Basques man, 48, charged with assault had the matter set over to the next plea date of April 9 at 10 a.m.

A 48-year-old Port aux Basques man charged with four counts of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking or recognizance, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and criminal harassment by repeatedly communicating with the person, entered a not guilty plea on all matters. A trial date has been set for Sept. 11 at 10 a.m.

A 49-year-old Port aux Basques man charged with hunting big game in a prohibited area and unlawfully possessing big game was not in court and had the matter set over to April 9 at 10 a.m.

An Isle an Morts man, 35, charged with assault, being unlawfully in a dwelling house, two counts of mischief relating to property of less than $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking entered a not guilty plea on all charges. The matter was set to trial on Sept. 12 at 10 a.m.

A 55-year old man, currently living in Owen Sound, ON, charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired and operation of a vehicle while impaired exceeding 80 mg has asked that the matters be transferred to Ontario court. The application has been received but not yet processed and so the matter has been set over to June 11 at 10 a.m. for plea.

A Rose Blanche man, 26, charged with unlawfully hunting, trapping, taking or killing a furbearing animal out of season, unlawfully possessing a trap or snare out of season in an area frequented by wildlife and unlawfully carrying or possessing a firearm or ammunition saw the last charged dropped by the Crown and was sentenced with a $250 fine on the first offense and a $200 fine on the second offense with three months to pay.

A Codroy man, 43, charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm had the matter set over to June 11 at 10 a.m. to allow time to seek private counsel.

A 21-year old Port aux Basques man charged with unlawfully causing an animal unnecessary suffering saw the crown drop those charges. On unrelated charges of assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and mischief relating to property of less than $5,000, the matters were set to April 9 at 10 a.m. to allow time for counsel.

A Port aux Basques man, 24, charged with failing to comply with probation orders entered a guilty plea. Facts were read and he was sentenced to 30 days house arrest with conditions and 12 months probation.

A 22-year old Isle aux Morts man, charged with two counts of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking, being unlawfully in a dwelling house and possessing property obtained by crime entered not guilty pleas on all charges. The matter is set to go to trial on July 10, at 10 a.m.

A 19-year old Port aux Basques man charged with two counts of trafficking in controlled drugs or substances did not appear for court and the Crown asked for a warrant for his arrest.

A 60-year old man living in Ontario charged with two counts of breach of act and/or regulations in regards to fisheries matters had the matter set over to May 7 at 1 p.m.

A Codroy man, 64, charged with unlawfully possessing shot other than non-toxic shot had the matter set over to May 7 at 1 p.m.

A Port aux Basques woman, 23, charged with assault and failure to attend court had the matter set over to May 8 at 10 a.m.

A 41-year old man from Margaree charged with assault causing bodily harm had the matter set over to April 9 at 10 a.m. to allow time to seek counsel.

A 31-year old South Branch man charged with four counts of assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm had the matter set over to May 8 at 10 a.m. for plea.

A Margaree woman, 37, charged with assault had the matter set over to April 9 at 10 a.m. for plea.

A 51-year old Port aux Basques woman charged with two counts of failing to comply with probation orders, failing to comply with a condition of an undertaking and assault with a weapon or imitation had the matter set over to May 7 at 10 a.m. to allow time for counsel.

A Cape Ray man, 51, charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired and operation of a vehicle while impaired by exceeding 80 mg had the matter set over to May 7 at 10 a.m. to allow time for counsel.
