Sarah Lavallee gives her dog Zoe a chance to stretch its legs Monday. Lavallee was waiting for the Sir Robert Bond to depart Corner Brook but it was delayed due to heavy ice conditions in the Strait of Belle Isle.

The Sir Robert Bond is still in port at Corner Brook.

The Labrador ferry had been scheduled to leave the city at 7 a.m. this morning, however, at 9:45 a.m. the CAI Nunatsiavut website issued a vessel update to say the ferry’s departure had been delayed.

The ferry, which operates between Corner Brook and Blanc Sablon, has been plagued with delays over the past couple of weeks due to heavy ice in the Strait of Belle Isle. It has been depending on assistance from Canadian Coast Guard icebreakers in making the crossing.

The company will post further updates to its website, www.labradorferry.ca, as they become available.

Organizations: Canadian Coast Guard
