Grand Bank District MHA Darin King has announced infrastructure repairs funding for the Town of Lord’s Cove.

It stems from the flash flood rainstorm striking the Burin Peninsula last August.

Mr. King said $36,760 has been provided for storm damage repairs in Lord’s Cove.

“This announcement reiterates our government’s commitment to support, maintain, or replace infrastructure that serve the residents of the communities throughout the district.”

He said this project is cost-shared between the provincial government and the town under the 90/10 formula established through the Municipal Capital Works Program.

“Over the past number of years, working together, we have successfully carried out a number of upgrades to infrastructure in Lord’s Cove including culverts, roads, playground, town hall/fire hall and community hall.”

Budget 2013 includes funding for the second year of a $130 million Municipal Capital Works Program.
