With a mind towards warmer weather, Bonne Bay is already gearing up for cruise ship season.
The ship visitation schedule was posted on the town’s website last week.
The cruise ship Sea Adventurer will start the season with a visit on June 7 and will follow up with a second visit on July 1.
The Seabornquest will visit on Aug. 27, the National Geographic Explorer will drop anchor on Sept. 9 and again five days later, and Le Boreal will visit Sept. 13.
“We had a good year (in 2013),” said the town’s cruise ship committee member Fred MacLean.
“We did reasonably well, I know that local businesses did good and we are working on what to do for this year.”
He said the committee will discuss any program changes when it meets in the next few weeks. The Bonne Bay area, he said has proven to be a popular destination from what they are hearing from cruise ship lines and visitors.
“We’ve heard that passengers have an appreciation for this area, they love it and we will do what we can for them this year,” he said.
He added that it bodes well that the cruise ship lines already have visits to the area for next year as well.
In August, 2015 the Seabornquest will make another appearance and the Albatros will return in September of that year.
