Students at Persalvic School in Victoria participat in Apple Day March 28.
A variety of Apple treats were available as part of Persalvic’s breakfast program. The children were able to take advantage of apple treats with chocolate dip, yogurt, cheese, applesauce just to name a few.
They also learned about the many different kinds of apples that are available by sampling a variety of apples.
On display at the school were just about all the apples one could imagine.
Similarly, students learned about the nutritional value of apples as they completed activity sheets.
Many of Persalvic’s wonderful volunteers were on hand to help make Apple Day an extraordinary Breakfast Program event.
Normally, volunteers help out each morning with Persalvic’s “Grab & Go” breakfast program. However, extra volunteers were on hand to make Apple Day a tremendous success.
During the day, families also gave back to the breakfast program by donating breakfast program items that fit with Persalvic’s “Grab & Go” concept. They donated juice packs, granola bars, cereal bars, yogurt tubes and cheese strings. Many families also gave a monetary donation as a way of giving back to what most would describe as, "a very worthwhile cause."
When the students made a donation to the program, they received a paper apple with their name and that they donated to the Breakfast Program. These paper apples were placed on the tree displayed in the corridor. Each donation made by families will be matched by the Kids Eat Smart Foundation.
Overall, the Breakfast Program at Persalvic is a great resource for everybody, and Apple Day has proven how much it is appreciated.
