A resident of Saint Luke’s Homes in St. John’s was treated to a lively party Saturday to honour his 100th birthday.

Family and friends gathered at Saint Luke’s Homes in St. John’s Saturday afternoon to celebrate Leroy Boone’s 100th birthday. Helping Boone cut his cake in this picture are, from the left, great-great grandnephew Andrew Kean, niece Marilyn Thistle, nephew Cliff Hatcher, and great-great grandnephew Jason Kean.

Leroy Boone is originally from Bareneed in Conception Bay North and spent most of his adult life in Ontario, where he worked as a carpenter. He returned to Bareneed with his wife Evelyn in 1976 following his retirement.

Family travelled from Ontario and Texas to celebrate the day, with other residents of Saint Luke’s Homes also taking part in the festivities.

Boone is reportedly the 37th resident to reach the century mark at Saint Luke’s.
