Eugene Francis Foley, 45, of St. Brides has been sentenced to 30 days in jail to be followed by eight months house arrest for a number of driving-related offences for an incident last June 23.

Foley will also be on probation for two years, prohibited from driving for two years, and prohibited from owning firearms for three years.

Foley was charged after Placentia RCMP, with the assistance of the Whitbourne RCMP, attempted to stop Foley when they suspected he was impaired while operating his vehicle in St. Brides.

Foley had entered guilty pleas to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to blow the breathalyzer, initiating a police pursuit and assault with a weapon.
