Just over two cents a litre was tacked onto the price of gasoline today.

But there is a break in the cost of some other fuels in the province.

A new maximum price for gas was hiked 2.1 cents per litre (cpl), while diesel motor fuel dropped on the island portion of the province by up to 1.7 cpl.

It means Burin Peninsula pump prices are now $1.40 for regular, self serve gasoline; $1.43 for full service and $1.405 for diesel.

As for heating fuels, furnace and stove oil both fell by 2.2 cpl, whereas propane increased 0.5 cpl.

The cost for furnace oil is now $1.0760 and stove oil is $1.1242. Propane has climbed to 94.6 cpl.

The Public Utilities Board’s next scheduled price change is next Thursday.
