One of the most iconic pieces of history in Conception Bay North is crumbling away.

This photo of the S.S. Kyle was taken April 15, showing the collapse that happened only hours before.

A portion of the S.S. Kyle, the last member of the Newfoundland Alphabet Fleet, has collapsed, and the damage was noticed by many this morning (April 15).

This photo was taken this morning. The white structure that sits in front of the smoke stack has fallen in on itself.

More to come.

The Chart Room collapsed earlier than April 14th. I took a photo of it on March 28th, 2014. - Matt G.

Steel sitting in and around salt water can't last forever. It takes big bucks to maintain this stuff.

After years of neglect she's actually held up quite well. Just imagine the tourist draw she'd be with the right promotion!
