Proclamation signed to recognize those who died on the job on April 28.

A proclamation was signed April 14 to name April 28 a day of mourning in Carbonear. Those on hand were, front (l-r) — Ann Marie MacKenzie, Mayor George Butt Jr. and Debbie McCarthy; back — Malcolm Seymour, Elizabeth Slade, Linda Soper and Kelly Roche.

On Monday, April 28 at 4 p.m. the Baccalieu Trail district labour council will take part in its 12th Day of Morning event at the Conception Bay Regional Community Centre in Carbonear.

An open invitation has been issued to families, organizations, town councils, unions and survivors of workplace injuries to attend and mourn the loss of those who have lost their lives on the job. The event will include a wreath-laying ceremony.

Members of the group attended the signing of a proclamation April 14 declaring the date as a Day of Mourning in Carbonear.
