Fisheries Minister Keith Hutchings announced today that an all-party committee will be doing consultations in the province and then ultimately heading to Ottawa to demand changes to shrimp quota cuts.

The all-party committee on shrimp met for the first time this week after Liberal Leader Dwight Ball requested that the government speak with a united voice on shrimp quota issues.
The Department Fisheries and Oceans announced a cut of more than 10,000 tonnes, almost all of that affecting the inshore fleet.
Hutchings said time is a factor, because the shrimp fishery usually opens in mid-May.
