The project also involves the fabrication, coating, installation, and testing of subsea piping systems manufactured from duplex stainless steel.

Work will be done in the former Altantic Seaboard Industries Limited (ASIL) building, near the Marine Atlantic ferry terminal.

The partnership will involve the provision of fabrication and testing services for the execution of Husky Energy’s South White Rose Extension (SWRX) project, which has been awarded to Technip Canada Limited.

Talon Energy says the fabrication is expected to employ about 100 people at peak work force, most of whom will be from the Port aux Basques area.

The project has an anticipated completion date of June 2014.

The company says the building has been upgraded by its current owners, and says it will be an ideal location for future fabrication projects.
