Bay Roberts man charged with drunk driving

Stopping impaired drivers was the focus of the Trinity Conception RCMP over the weekend.

Using a number of road checks and check stops, 19 drivers were charged under various Highway Traffic Act offences by officers.

Included in those were two seven-day suspensions issued to drivers for consuming alcohol.

At 1:45 a.m. on April 27 a 33-year-old Bay Roberts man was arrested at a vehicle stop on Route 70. His blood alcohol readings were nearly three times the legal limit.

The man was charged with impaired driving and driver over 80 mgs%. He released on a promise to appear and will appear in provincial court in Harbour Grace in June.
