Lewisporte Mayor Brian Sceviour gave auctioneering a try at the 2013 Calypso Fantasy Auction. He was successful in having bidders part with large sums of money for a variety of homemade cakes.
May 9 promises to be a night of great food, friends and fundraising. The annual event is the largest fundraiser hosted by the Calypso Foundation.
The auction will be held at the Lewisporte Kinsmen Centre beginning at 6 p.m. with the wine-tasting and viewing of the items donated for the auction beginning at 7 p.m.
Calypso Foundation coordinator Colleen Barrett said, “Once again this year we are very grateful for the donations from individuals, businesses and organizations.”
The door prize for the Auction is a $250 gas card donated by Kane’s Ultramar in Lewisporte and Campbellton. Barrett noted that donations have been received from all over the province and there’s sure to be something for everyone.
Don Manuel and Anne Winsor will fill the roles of auctioneers following a job well done at the 2013 auction.
Barrett would like to remind people that due to severe allergies please refrain from strong scents and anything containing nuts.
Tickets are on sale at the Calypso Foundation at a cost of $12 each and Barrett is encouraging anyone with a donation to contact the Foundation at 535-2604.
