The provincial government is making it easier to apply for community recreation grants by making three applications into one.

Newfoundland and Labrador

Announced in a release on June 2, the government will be consolidating the applications for the community capitol grant program, the physical activity equipment grant program and the community recreation development grant program into the Community Recreation Support Program for 2014-2015.

Those applying for grants will now only have to fill out one application, which will streamline the process.

"Our government recognizes the importance of community recreation grants to towns and communities througout Newfoundland and Labrador, particularly our rural areas," said Sandy Collins, minister of tourism, culture and recreation.

The program is a strategy designed to encourage communities to plan, establish priorities and work more effectively to provide the widest and most appropriate range of recreation opporuntities.

It aims to meet the needs of Newfoudland and Labrador communities.

Funding is available for activites like developing recreation programs and building or improving facilities, as well as putting programs in place for community projects and programs.

Applications for the new program can be found at

They can be completed online or printed and returned by mail.
