Lets face facts here, the amalgamation of Herdman and Regina worked purely because of the students and staff, in spite of the school board. I was on student council when it happened. We were promised many things by the board, given a pitch that sounded like we were getting the school of our dreams, and that our questions, suggestions, and concerns would all be taken seriously and considered. Heck, they even dragged us out of school every other week to have the two councils form a unified front, the "voice of the student body" It was all bull. A ploy to get the student council to pressure students into supporting the merge. None of our concerns were ever addressed, none of our questions were ever answered honestly. The whole thing was just a show. I quit student politics entirely because of that experience, I don't take kindly to being used. Worst thing about all of this, is that much like with the formation of CBRH, the students and teachers are never going to benefit from any of the money saved by the school board from merging the schools.
