RCMP release traffic stats for Salmon Festival weekend

The RCMP issued 242 speeding tickets throughout the province over the Salmon Festival weekend.

On the positive side, the RCMP notes there were no fatal or serious injury crashes related to the Grand Falls-Windsor festival.

The RCMP had a strong presence on highways throughout the province over the weekend. Continuous patrols were conducted in an effort to monitor traffic flow and to ensure overall road safety.

Traffic volume was noted to be high at times, but mostly moderate throughout the weekend.

The total traffic stats over the weekend include:

• Impaired driving — 1;

• Obstruct Police Office — 1;

• Resisting arrest — 1;

• Speeding — 242;

• Intersection — 4;

• Other traffic violations 41;

• Seatbelts — 2

• Liquor Control Act — 3

• Radar detector — 1;

• Cell phone — 3.

    242? Was there that many people at the Salmon Fest?
