A 32-year-old St. George’s man is expected to appear in Stephenville provincial court today charged with damage to property and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The charges resulted from an investigation after police were called at 2:10 p.m. on Monday to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Main Street in St. George’s.
Cpl. John Butler said the man is alleged to have possessed and used a shovel in such a way that it caused others to fear he may use it as a weapon; however, nobody was hurt in the incident.
The damage to property involved damage to a chair inside the residence.
