The Bay de Grave Fire Department put off a mock disaster Saturday (July 26) at All Hallows Elementary in North River.

Aided by Moores Ambulance and Broughton's Funeral Home, the department showed off their prowess in a disaster that was designed as a three automobile accident.

Featuring some volunteers who played the victims, members of the department went through the steps to delivering aid to those who need it. They used hydraulic extraction tools to cut the doors and roofs off of the cars.

When finished, paramedics tended to the "wounded," transporting them with sirens blaring in front of a dozen onlookers.

The Compass was there and captured these images.

PPE guys. Great PR, Great showing, but always wear PPE. Bad things happen in training too.

Great to see training but one question I have is where is the full PPE. I don't believe short sleeves constitute PPE. It is there for a reason wear it, training or real life scenario. Set the example.
