A tender for some $188,000 has been awarded to Coastal Building Products and Services Ltd. in Mount Pearl to install the new windows at Tricon Elementary.

The school serves just over 100 students from kindergarten to Grade 6 from about a dozen communities, including Brownsdale, Lower Island Cove and Old Perlican.

Tricon has undergone several upgrades in recent years, including a roofing project last year costing some $227,000.

A playground was also replaced in 2013 through donations, sponsorships and fundraising. It cost some $15,000.

No specifics have been announced on when the work is expected to begin, or if it will be completed before school begins in September.
