A 51-year old man, was rushed to the Burin Peninsula Health Centre, July 31, at approximately 9 pm after falling from the cliffs at a popular swimming hole in the community of Red Harbour off route 210.
Police had originally enlisted the services of the Burin Peninsula Search and Rescue Team because they were unsure if they would be able to retrieve the man due to the location of the fall.
The call to the team was later called off when paramedics at the scene were able to successfully secure the man to a backboard. With the assistance of by-standers they were able to lift the man to safety.
The man is reported to have suffered some broken bone and other injuries as a result of the fall.
Police say they are thankful to by-standers at the scene for their assistance.
