Writers at Woody Point kicks off its 10th season tonight with a concert at the Woody Point Heritage Centre featuring Gord Downie with Josh Finlayson.
Organized and presented by Friends of Writers at Woody Point, the literary festival will run until Sunday.
This year’s lineup of writers includes Joseph Boyden, Lisa Moore, Michael Crummey, Nicole Lundrigan, Claire Wilkshire, Anthony De Sa, Stan Dragland, Amanda Boyden, Des Walsh, Alan Doyle and Camilla Gibb.
Other musicians to perform include The Dardanelles, The Blue Drop — Allan Byrne and Holly Hogan, Cajun Country Revival, Sandy Morris, Skydiggers, Shane Murphy, Sherman Downey and the Ambiguous Case and Gros Morne Summer Music.
The festival is being hosted by Shelagh Rogers. Tonight’s concert starts at 8 p.m. Downie and Finlayson will also perform a second show at the heritage centre on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
The first writer’s reading takes place at Galliot Studios on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with Claire Wilkshire.
