The chance of rain threatened to put a damper on the Cuper's Cove Soiree in Cupids Aug. 15-17.

But, the showers held off and hundreds of people came out to try their hand at games of chance, have a plate of home fries with all the trimmings and listen to some music.

Things kicked off with a parade that featured some flashy bicycles, classic cars and a trio of sports utility vehicle (SUV) play vehicles. That was followed by two-days of activites at the festival grounds.

While not a part of the soiree, there was a ceremony at the Cupids Legacy Centre where 30 people became new Canadian citizens. That was followed by the raising of a giant Canadian flag.

The Compass was there and captured these images.
