The Town of Port au Port East is still on a boil order, which has been in place for about two weeks, but it’s hoped to be lifted soon.
Joanne Ryan, town clerk, said due to recent rain the water levels in their wells have come up a lot and a request will soon be made to Government Services to have testing done.
The water level dropped dramatically during the summer resulting in the call for the boil order but Ryan believes the crisis is over now.
She said the town’s maintenance person has to request the testing before the boil order can be lifted with Government Services carrying out testing over several days. That request hasn’t been put forward yet but it’s expected to happen soon after more help in the water levels from rain on Thursday night.
“It made a big difference,” Ryan said.
